The pictures are a progression of the family business that started with my grandfather in the 1930's in Central Falls, Rhode Island, brought to Cumberland by my dad in the 1960's, and still managed by the family today.

When I was young I remember towing cars in, delivering cars at night, picking up parts, etc. All the things that are part of running a successful small family business. I never felt we were in a hurry and it was never just about getting the job done. There was a personal component. We knew most of our customers.

After being founded in the 1930s, Mutter Motors Inc. is located at 505 Broad St. in Cumberland, RI as a used car dealer, auto repair center, and tire dealer. Since the beginning, our business has been focused on building strong customer relationships and providing the highest quality of service on each and every sale and repair.

We opened in the 1930s as Cross Street Auto Sales in Central Falls, RI with the slogan, “we may be on the hill, but we’re on the level.” We haven’t forgotten that and we strive to provide the best possible service at a fair price. Mutter Motors Inc. has operated in Cumberland since 1968.
